Welcome to the Kirklees Safer Communities Partnership

Cllr Khizar Iqbal (Cabinet Member for Safer Stronger Communities & Housing)

Introduction
Welcome to the Kirklees Safer Communities Partnership website which is one of the complementary partnerships working towards specific themes within the Kirklees Community Strategy.  http://www.kirkleespartnership.org/index.asp

The Kirklees Safer Communities Partnership themes are:

  • Reduce anti-social behaviour; Reduce fear of crime; Reduce domestic burglary; Reduce theft from cars.
  • Stifle the availability of illegal drugs and reduce drug related anti-social and criminal activity.
  • Reduce domestic abuse and the harm caused by it.
  • Reduce racist incidents and the harm caused by them.
  • Reduce homophobic incidents and the harms caused by them.
  • Reduce the number of young people who are the victims of violent crime.
  • To continue to reduce crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour with town centres and commercial areas.

The community, private, voluntary and public sectors are all vital partners in this common endeavour which are combined with links in other areas of work, such as the economy, education, transport, regeneration and the children and young people’s agenda.  Evidence shows that working in partnership provides results and no partner is more important to us than the public.

We aim to create a safer and stronger community where everyone shares in the benefits of an increasingly successful Kirklees, reaffirming that our district is a positive and tolerant place to live and we hope that you can support that process.
